Professional Global Diploma in Education (PGDE)

It provides opportunities for participants to develop the knowledge, skills and attitudes, together with an understanding of the responsibilities and obligations of belonging to the teaching profession.

Program Overview

This qualification aims to provide learners with knowledge and skills that will enable them to be effective in a senior level role within a school or equivalent learning environment.

Modules

This course contains 4 mandatory modules which carries 21 credits each. The learner should complete all the modules successfully to attain this qualification.

Modules

Professional Global Diploma in Education: This pathway is designed for learners who intend to specialize in Education. 

The focus of this module is helping K-12 practitioners advance their expertise in the field of teaching by expanding their knowledge and skills in three major areas:

  • Knowledge of learners and learning
  • Knowledge of subject matter and curriculum goals
  • Knowledge of effective teaching models, strategies and practices

Learning Outcomes

  • Discuss research and theory on the process of learning in education.
  • Apply effective learning practices in the classroom.
  • Analyze findings from neuroscience as they relate to learning.

Time frame

Time: Two months/8 Weeks

Total Hours: 200

In this module, practitioners will learn about the challenges of students who have disabilities and those who have significant difficulty with learning but do not qualify for special education services. Practitioners will learn how to adapt curriculum, instruction and assessment to maximize learning for students of determination

Learning Outcomes

  • Critically evaluate the implications of inclusion and special needs legislation at your school.
  • Assess ways to improve inclusive teaching processes.
  • Evaluate the role of an educational practitioner in helping students develop social skills and form positive peer relationships.
  • Assess how the design of a curriculum for students with special needs has evolved.

Time: Two months/8 Weeks

In this module, practitioners are introduced to the teacher leadership concept and the value it holds in the educational field. In the wake of current educational challenges practitioners will learn the critical importance of expanding their knowledge of educational research and theory to guide leadership decisions. To effect a positive change in their learning community and cultivate the attributes and attitudes of a leader teacher, practitioners will also engage in personal assessment and analysis.

Learning Outcomes

  • Discuss leadership theories as they apply to educational settings.
  • Analyze your skill-set against the research on teacher leadership.
  • Develop a plan for continuous acquisition and improvement of your teacher leadership skills.
  • Analyze aspects of an educational institution involved in a change initiative.

Time: Two months/8 Weeks

Total Hours: 200

In this module, practitioners learn what it means to be a professional in today’s diverse and rapidly changing educational landscape. They examine their values, beliefs, vision, mission and their role in the broader context of the teaching profession. They learn the importance of collaboration in the professional learning community and the need to advocate for students, in the field of education. Practitioners also learn on how professional stance influences student learning.

  • Evaluate the qualities that make an expert teacher.
  • Evaluate your own teaching performance to identify areas of professional development.
  • Analyze the effectiveness of professional partnerships and networks and their impact on student learning.
  • Design an educational weblog resource for teachers.

Shakhnoza Shamsuddinova
Education Policy Specialist with a strong academic background in education policy and research from a leading Russell Group UK University. She holds a BA with Honors in International Relations and Foreign Policy and an MSc in Education, Public Policy, and Equity from the University of Glasgow with Distinction. Experienced in educational policy, public policy research, and practice with an overall 5-year teaching experience in the private education sector as well as internship experiences in government organizations and NGOs. Shakhnoza is a scholarship holder of prestigious programs organized and sponsored by Harvard Business School, University of Cambridge, British Council, and OSCE. Her qualifications include a Master of Science with Distinction in Education, Public Policy, and Equity from the University of Glasgow. She takes pride in inspiring and empowering young practitioners and supports local and professional communities. In addition to engaging in research, developing curricula and professional development, Poonam has presented papers, and she is a regular speaker at international conferences like World Education Summit, Indian Education Congress and Education Innovation Summit. A Gold Medalist with a degree in Master of Science in Education (MSED) and Research with specialization in Teacher Leadership from Richard Riley College of Education, Walden University, USA, currently her area of interest is “how leadership practices in a school can impact the learning and achievement of students”.

Dr Vivek is an award-winning researcher with several years of experience leading the design, delivery and digital transformation of programs in higher education in the UK, Europe and the Middle East. He had previously taken up Faculty and Researcher positions at Sheffield Business School, UK, and Leeds Business School, UK. His corporate training and consulting portfolio includes firms such as PricewaterhouseCoopers, International Cricket Council, WJ Ground Water and Petrofac. Dr Vivek holds a PhD in Business Management and an MSc in International Business from the UK and is certified in education design for higher education from Sydney (UNSW), blockchain essentials (UCLA), blended learning essentials from the UK (UCL-Leeds), and in Project Management from CMI, UK. He is also a certified member of the British Academy of Management and served as the editorial board member of the International Journal of Family Business and Management in the US. He is also a sports enthusiast and plays competitive badminton and basketball.

Entry Requirements

  • Age 20+ and Gender is no bar. Be currently teaching and have access to a classroom (if not we will provide placement support).
  • Be committed to developing their teaching and learning skills through reflective practice in the field of education.
  • Be graduates of an approved university or other institution of higher education.
  • Applicants for whom English is not the medium of instruction of their first degree must have achieved a British Council IELTS average final score of 6.5 with a minimum of 6.0 in any element no more than two years prior to admission.
  • Applicants with lesser qualifications may be considered for ‘exceptional entry’. If you do not meet these criteria you may contact us about a non-standard entry
